Your Privacy at Seize the Bay

Last Updated: March 20, 2026

Hello. We are Ron and Barb, the creators of Seize the Bay. We value our own privacy, and we promise to treat your personal information with the same respect we want for our own.

Our relationship with you is built on trust, not data. We are here to share inspiration, not to sell your email address. This policy explains, in simple language, what information we collect and why.

Our “Neighborly” Promise

We will never sell, lease, or distribute your personal information to outside companies. It stays with us, period.

1. What Information We Collect

We only ask for the information we need to provide the content and community experience you expect from us.

A. The Newsletter (Choice 1)

When you sign up for our weekly dispatch, we collect:

  • First Name: So we can greet you properly in our emails.

  • Email Address: So we can send the newsletter to you.

B. The “Get Involved” Form (Choice 2)

If you choose to help build the Seize the Bay community, we collect:

  • Name & Email: To contact you.

  • Interests: The boxes you check (e.g., Storytelling, Mentorship) so we know how you want to help.

  • Your Message: Any additional details you choose to share with us.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide for two specific purposes:

  1. To deliver the Weekly Dispatch: We send one email a week (our Saturday morning ‘Dispatch’) focused on our four pillars: Joy, Energy, Meaning, and Adventure. We might occasionally send an extra note about a local Georgian Bay meetup, but we promise never to flood your inbox.

  2. To reply to your inquiry: If you filled out the “Get Involved” form, we use your contact information to have a direct, personal conversation with you about collaborating.

3. Cookies and Website Analytics

We use basic technology called “cookies” and analytics tools (like Google Analytics) to help us understand how people use our website.

  • What this does: It tells us anonymous information, such as which blog posts are the most popular (e.g., “Do people prefer trail guides or coffee reviews?”) or which region our readers are from (e.g., Midland, Tiny Township, or elsewhere).

  • What it doesn’t do: It does not tell us who you are personally. This data helps us create better content that serves the community.

  • Your Control: You can set your web browser to refuse all cookies if you prefer, though this might slightly affect your experience on the site.

4. Who Can Access Your Data

Access to your information is strictly limited. Only Ron and Barb (and, if needed, a trusted technical assistant working directly for us) can access the list.

We use secure, well-known, industry-standard tools (like email services) to store and manage our list. We have selected these partners specifically because they also have strong privacy protections.

5. Your Rights and Your Control

For the demographic we serve, we believe control over your data is non-negotiable.

  • To Stop Receiving Emails: Every single email we send includes a clear “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom. You can click this at any time, and you will be removed from the list immediately—no questions asked.

  • To See or Delete Your Data: If you want to know what information we have, or if you want us to completely delete you from our system, please send an email to [Your Email Address]. We will fulfill your request promptly.

6. Transparency on Our Location

While we are “rooted” in the Georgian Bay area, we are currently traveling and exploring in Lagos, Portugal. While our focus and heart remain on North Simcoe, your data may be processed through standard internet services as we communicate from our current location.

A Final Note of Thanks

Thank you for being part of the Seize the Bay community. If you have any concerns or questions about this policy, please reach out to us directly. We are always happy to chat.

Sincerely,

Ron & Barb
