Thriving Together: Our Georgian Bay Roadmap to Joy, Energy, Meaning, and Adventure
By Ron Neumann & Barb Coxworth
Hello friends,
When Barb and I look out at the water from our home in North Simcoe, we are often struck by the sheer scale of the landscape. Georgian Bay is expansive, resilient, and constantly moving.
We believe that life after 55 should be exactly the same.
For years, we’ve used words like “Health” and “Happiness” to describe what we’re looking for in this next chapter. But as we’ve settled into this stage of life, we’ve found that those words are a bit too generic. They lack the vitality and intention that thriving after 55 actually requires.
A life well-lived in the Bay—or anywhere else—isn’t accidental. It’s built with purpose, intent, and community. Science supports this, showing that when we actively nurture specific dimensions of our lives, our well-being and longevity improve dramatically.
That’s why we created Seize the Bay. It’s not a service directory or a medical resource. It’s a neighborly guide to exploring a richer, more vibrant kind of thriving. We’ve refined our roadmap, combining lived experience with evidence-based insights, and centered it on four essential pillars that help us navigate our “Next Big Thing”:
✨ Joy: Finding tangible happiness in everyday local connections and small, sensory moments.
💪 Energy: Building the physical vitality, health, and resilience to stay active on the trails and on the water.
🌱 Meaning: Anchoring our next chapter in purpose, contribution, and mentorship within the Simcoe County community.
🌍 Adventure: Remaining expansive, curious, and open to exploration, both close to home on the Bay and far beyond it.
Thriving after 55 is not about getting everything “right.” It’s about leaning into these four areas together. This post is an invitation to explore how we can all find a fuller, healthier, and more meaningful life in the place we love.
Warmly,
Ron & Barb
