The people behind Seize the Bay

Seize the Bay was created by Ron Neumann and Barb Coxworth, a Georgian Bay couple who believe life after 55 can be one of the richest, most meaningful, and most rewarding stages of life.

We started Seize the Bay because we saw a need for a more hopeful, practical, and honest conversation about what comes next. Too often, life after 55 is framed as a slowing down. We see it differently. We believe this stage of life can be a time of renewed Joy, Energy, Purpose, and Adventure.

Much of our Purpose pillar comes from the communities and causes we care about.

See the Communities We Support.

We are not experts telling others how to live. We are fellow travellers sharing what we are learning along the way. Sometimes that means writing about health, habits, technology, travel, community, purpose, or the practical realities of aging well. Sometimes it means sharing personal reflections, local experiences, or ideas that have helped us think differently about this stage of life.

Georgian Bay is a big part of our story. Its water, rocks, trails, towns, changing seasons, and people remind us that a good life is built through connection, appreciation, curiosity, and purpose. Seize the Bay is rooted in that spirit — local, reflective, practical, and open to possibility.

Ron brings a lifelong interest in innovation, technology, community development, entrepreneurship, and practical problem-solving. He is especially interested in how people over 55 can keep learning, adapt to change, use tools like AI, and continue making a meaningful contribution in their communities.

Barb brings warmth, creativity, curiosity, and a strong instinct for connection. Her interests in friendship, travel, wellness, family, and community help keep Seize the Bay grounded in real life — the conversations, relationships, and everyday moments that make thriving after 55 feel personal and possible.

Together, we created Seize the Bay as an invitation to live this stage of life more fully. Not perfectly. Not busily. Not by chasing someone else’s version of success. But with more clarity, courage, humour, connection, and purpose.

Whether you live in Georgian Bay, visit often, or simply connect with the idea of thriving after 55, we are glad you are here.

There is still so much to notice, build, give, and explore. There is still so much to seize.
